Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found many other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.
An important official stated the attack rendered him without words and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
